"MODIFIED DISPENSATIONALISM" DENIED
A Response to Brian Schwertley
by Greg Loren Durand

Exhibit J:
Thomas Minsel's 23 October 2007 E-Mail to Brian Schwertley

From: Thomas Minsel
To: Brian Schwertley
Cc: Crown Rights Book Company
Subject: Greg Loren Durand and your recent series on the Judicial Law
Date: 23 Oct 2007 23:17:13

Dear Mr. Schwertley,

I am writing in response to your recent series of lectures entitled the Judicial Law which are available via the Sermon Audio website. Throughout the course of your lectures, you have spent considerable time focusing on Mr. Greg Loren Durand and his book, “Judicial Warfare”.

Having read Mr. Durand’s book myself, I found numerous mischaracterizations of his theological viewpoints in your public critiques of his teaching – especially in your critiques regarding Mr. Durand’s views of the Mosaic covenant and the moral law as well as his views of natural law. Having spent considerable time in the study of Reformed theology, historical theology and apologetics myself, I am certain that Mr. Durand’s views are well within the pale of Reformed orthodoxy as evident in the similarity of Mr. Durand’s views with the writings of various Reformers, Puritans and Scottish divines.

Brian, it is upsetting enough that you, a public teacher and minister of the Gospel, would pursue such a relentless attack on Mr. Durand without seeming to understand his viewpoints. Having said that, what is much worse is the documentation contained in the form of written correspondence between yourself and Mr. Durand – correspondence that has taken place while you have been in the process of continuing attacking Mr. Durand and his teaching. Mr. Durand went above and beyond the call of duty during your correspondence with him to ensure that you might understand his book and teaching – spelling out to you in much detail what he believes and why in objection to your attacks. And yet, the attacks continued. Furthermore, the nature and timing of the correspondence in conjunction with your continued attacks upon Mr. Durand has convinced me that you not only have mischaracterized Mr. Durand and his teaching, but that you have also publicly falsified Mr. Durand’s statements to you and borne false witness against Mr. Durand in a public setting in violation of the 9th commandment.

For these reasons, I am asking you as a witness on Mr. Durand’s behalf – per the instructions in Matthew 18 – to do the right thing and restore Mr. Durand’s good name. Yes Brian, I am calling you to repentance in these matters. Mr. Durand has asked the following of you:

“I am hereby requesting that he restore my good name to me by reading this letter [which you should have already received –TM] and repenting in the hearing of his congregation, make restitution to me posting a recording of said repentance on Sermon Audio for a period no less than four times the length that his series has been online (eight weeks to date), and delete his entire series entitled “The Reformed View of the Judicial Law” from Sermon Audio.”

Brian, I sincerely hope the Lord will grant you the grace to repent in these matters. I also hope that you might come to see that Christian Reconstruction and its correspondent Dominion Theology is a movement that dangerously subverts the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and that is at odds with historic Reformed Christianity.

Most sincerely,
Thos. Minsel, Ph.D.
Greensboro, N.C.
